I an others in this thread know why this won't work but let's not discourage them. Let them confine themselves and all their utopian / dystopian tech in their little cities and let all the people that blindly adopt this tech move to those cities. Then we just have to figure out how to encourage them to not leave those cities.
Every time I read about the fever-dream utopia that libertarians so desperately want, I am reminded of the town which fell apart because the ideas in practice simply don't work:
"When a group of libertarians set about scrapping their local government, chaos descended. And then the bears moved in." [1]
The whole “build a city without a lot of rules” just seems like a path to learning why those rules are there.
