Ask HN: Anyone else getting forced auto-dubbing on YouTube Android app?
I live in Germany and speak both German and English fluently. Some English videos on YouTube (Android app) now get auto-dubbed in German with no option to switch to the original audio. The dubbed voice sounds so annoying and artificial, like Google Translate reading text aloud. On the web version, you have the option of changing audio tracks back to the original, but not on Android.
Has anyone else noticed this recently? Is this a new rollout? Anyone from Google here who can explain or fix this? This is the most annoying thing I’ve ever experienced on YouTube.
Yes everyone :(

And perhaps one or two more threads.
PS: You can go to the top right, click on the three vertical dots, and select "Language: English US". It has the side effect of translating the videos in German to an annoying and artificial voice in English, but you can switch it back.
I wonder if it would still happen if you added a "-" after the t in the youtube link. So if it was youtube.com/somevideo you would change it to yout-ube.com/somevideo. This will remove ads and comments I wonder if it would fix your issue.
